I have experimented with papier-mâché technique for years. My creation varies from tiny sculptures which fit in a handful to garden sculptures on the top of grass pyramids. As much as I love painting in two dimensions, several times a year I get bored that I can not walk around or inside my paintings. Using multi - colored paper clay I make my paintings in 3D. I see papier-mâché as a wonderful technique to recycle any kind of paper : office paper, advertising catalogs, old newspapers. In a way, these sculptures give a third life to a tree. They reflect my love for books and reading : I love all things on paper – books, drawings, notes, letters. I love the smell of paper, the touch, the sound it makes when you touch it.
