FIRST SCULPTURES
I have experimented with papier-mâché technique for years. My creation varies from tiny sculptures which fit in a handful to garden sculptures on the top of grass pyramids. I see papier-mâché as a wonderful technique to recycle any kind of paper : office paper, advertising catalogs, old newspapers. In a way, these sculptures give a third life to a tree. They reflect my love for books and reading : I love all things on paper – books, drawings, notes, letters. I love the smell of paper, the touch, the sound it makes when you touch it.
Here you will find works from different collections : « Morte Innamorata » is dedicated to Santa Muerte from Mexican culture, she is beautiful and dangerous, sad and joyful at the same time.
« Big Fish », « Colossus » and « Lion » were created for Botanical Garden of Riga. They are ancient symbols and mystic guardians of the city.
